Got to agree with the last review on this one
Good selection, hearty meals and good service.
Went in here for a breakfast roll one morning after a night on the razzle and was amazed by the portion and food.
1 long turpedo roll filled with egg, sausage, black pudding, bacon and beans and I was well set up for the day ahead.
    Brilliant

Although this cafe seems to remain ever popular with the locals, I must admit that I wasn't a huge fan. Black & White Cafe would most certainly come under the category of a 'greasy spoon'.

I will start with the positives. The portion sizes here and massive for the money that you pay. For anyone just looking for a cheap feed, this is a great place to head to, as there's not really that much else in the area. They have a wide selection of burgers and all day breakfasts, complete with black pudding, should you so wish.

The negative however. The staff were slightly rude, and the whole place is covered in a thin layer of grease because there's nothing much blocking the deep fat fryer from the rest of the cafe.

If it's raining, then you might want to dash in here for a cup of tea. But don't be surprised when the locals all look at you like a stranger walking into a Western.

I agree with Tanya, this is a greasy spoon and I don't think I would make a special trip to come here again. It wasn't the prices or the quality (cause you get what you pay for) it was just the vibe of the place it's seldom full and I just didn't seem to enjoy it.

The coffee quite frankly wasn't that great and due to its location it's a little bit out of the way. I guess it's not all that bad as my friend did order an all day breakfast which was dirt cheap and quite big but it took quite a while for the food to come to the table (almost half an hour) and the staff weren't particularly apologetic about the waiting time.

If I'm honest there are tons of places like this one which can offer the same portions for the same amount of money and are closer to the city centre.

I went here a few years ago now so I don't know how things might have changed and the other reviews are good so maybe it's different but I wasn't massively impressed. We went for a breakfast fry-up and none of us were blown away with what we got (meat eaters and veggies alike). It's not expensive and the portions are good but compared to other cooked breakfasts we've had around Cardiff it was a bit basic and perhaps a touch too rustic. Obviously it's not rocket science to do a breakfast and we weren't looking for anything sophisticated but there just wasn't quite the variety that other places we've been too have had.
Still though, you can do worse and the other reviewers were pleased with the non-breakfast meals they had so perhaps it's worth a go if you're in the area.
